In favor of liquor by the drink

To: Chatham County Commissioners
c/o George Lucier, Chairman

Mr. Lucier,

I am not able to attend tonight's meeting regarding the liquor by the drink issue, but I whole-heartedly support that this be put on the ballot as a "special election" issue to be decided by public vote in May of this year, 2009.

I have been a citizen of Pittsboro since August of 1983 and have witnessed quite a bit of growth in our community since that time and sincerely feel that liquor by the drink, if handled properly and responsibly by those who would obtain a license to participate, would be a step that would further the growth of our county in a positive manner. I think that you would agree that our area now has citizens from all parts of the United States and that most of them have moved here from areas that had liquor by the drink, thus it would bring our county up to date and competitive with other communities in this region of North Carolina given that our economy improves sooner than later.

Again, I personally feel assured that it would be a good step to further enhance the growth of Pittsboro and Chatham County and thus letting the people decide via vote would be the best way to decide. Thank you,
Bill Cline, PittsBoroTrekExpress, L.L.C.

Editor’s note: This letter was sent to Commission Chair George Lucier on January 26, the when the liquor by the drink hearing was held.
